On May 11th, Ambassador Shirakata visited Marie Sharp's Fine Foods Ltd. in Stann Creek, where he met Mrs. Marie Sharp, Managing Director, founder, and namesake of the brand, and her family, who are executives of the company.
Mrs. Sharp gave an overview of the company's relationship with Japan and how, in 1998, a Japanese diver visited San Pedro Town, tasted the sauce and went to the manufacturing company with the idea of selling it in Japan.
The company's Habanero Pepper Sauce is currently exported to Japan as the number one export destination.
