25th Anniversary of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) program

On August 25th, Ambassador Shirakata and Secretary Shinya attended the commemoration of 25th Anniversary of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) program in Belize, with the presence of Prime Minister John Briceno, Dr. Osmond Martinez, the Minister of State for Finance, Investment, Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation and E-Governance, and Mrs. Narda Garcia, CEO in the Office of the Prime Minister.
During the event, Ms. Ayako Suginaka, working on environmental education in Orange Walk, shared highlights of JOCV's experiences on behalf of all JOCVs in Belize. Ambassador appreciated Prime Minister Briceno's recognition and gratitude to JOCVs' contribution at the communities including rural areas in Belize and reaffirmation of his commitment to continue working with them.
