Japanese Government is offering Scholarships to Belizeans for the Academic Year 2026, for (1)Research Students(Graduate Studies), (2)College of Technology students, (3)Specialized Training College students

2026 MEXT Scholarships for Belize


  The Embassy of Japan in Belize is pleased to announce that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan continues to offer the Research (Graduate Studies) students and starts to offer the College of Technology students and Specialized Training College students for the first time, commencing on the academic year April 2026 or September/October 2026.



(1)Research (Graduate) Students
  
   This scholarship is open to Belizean who is university graduates, and covers a one year and half - two year period of graduate research at Japanese universities. The study area must be in the same field as the applicant studied or currently studying, or a related field. Recipients may enter Master's or Ph.D. program after passing the entrance examination given by the university concerned. The scholarship includes a half-year of Japanese language training for those who need Japanese language training.
Applicants must be less than 35 years of age (born on or after April 2, 1991).

(2)College of technology Students
  
   This scholarship is open to Belizean who is undergraduate students (graduated associate's / 6th form).It covers a course of study or in an advanced course at a national institute of technology (KOSEN) and the preferred field(s) of study must be chosen from among (A) to (H) below.
  (A) Mechanical Engineering  (B) Electrical and Electronic Engineering
  (C) Information, Communication and Network Engineering  (D) Materials Engineering
  (E) Architecture  (F) Civil Engineering  (G) Maritime Engineering  (H) Other Fields
Applicants must be under 25 years of age (born on or after April 2, 2001).

(3)Specialized Training College Students
  
   This scholarship is open to Belizean who is undergraduate students (graduated associate's / 6th form). It covers a course at Japanese specialized training colleges as Specialized Training College Students and the preferred field(s) of study must be chosen  from among (A) to (F) below.
  (A) Technology  (B) Personal Care and Nutrition  (C) Education and Welfare
  (D) Business  (E) Fashion and Home Economics  (F) Culture and General Education
 Applicants must be under 25 years of age (born on or after April 2, 2001).

(Specialized Training College students)



【for Belizean Applicants】
  Deadline for submission of application and supporting documents is 6th June 2025.
Please bring the completed set of application(original and 2copies) to the Embassy of Japan in Belize (1:00pm-4:00pm, Mon-Fri) by hand.  


 
As a part of First screening, written examination of language proficiency and interview for shortlisted candidates will be conducted in June-July.
