Ambassador YAMAKURA making a remark
Her Excellency, Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize making a speech
On Monday, February 23rd, Ambassador Ryosuke YAMAKURA and Mrs. Midori YAMAKURA hosted a reception at the Grand Resort and Residence in Belize City, celebrating the 66th birthday of His Majesty Emperor Naruhito. His Majesty ascended the throne on May 1, 2019, becoming the 126th Emperor of Japan.
The event gathered approximately 90 guests, including Her Excellency, Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize, other esteemed guests from the Government of Belize, diplomatic corps, development partners, private sectors, academia, and various organizations.
In his remarks, Ambassador YAMAKURA reaffirmed Japan’s steadfast commitment to supporting Belize’s development. He highlighted the growing bilateral relationship between Japan and Belize, underscored by the recent high-level visits of Prime Minister John Briceño and Foreign Minister Francis Fonseca to Japan, as well as Japan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Eli's visit to Belize.
Her Excellency, Dame Froyla Tzalam, Governor General of Belize, noted that the Government of Japan continues to promote peace and friendship worldwide by building relationships with countries such as Belize and sharing its values and best practices. Her Excellency further emphasized Japan’s ongoing support in minimizing the impact of disasters and promoting long term recovery through collaborative partnerships such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), CARICOM and SICA.
Guests were treated with sushi freshly prepared by a Japanese sushi chef and enjoyed tasting of Sake at the booth featuring a selection of the premium Japanese rice wine.
